How Do We Make Amorphous Metals in 2020?

Amorphous metals have brought new development opportunities for materials science and manufacturing, especially in the field of energy conversion. Traditional crystalline alloys need to be processed in multiple steps to obtain better properties, such as quenching and electroplating. Amorphous metals can be formed in one step through a single-step solution, such as rapid cooling during processing. Therefore, it exhibits magical physical properties that any crystalline metal cannot reach, such as high permeability and low magnetic loss.

Amorphous metals and common alloys

Metal alloys have the characteristic of sharing crystal structure, which is a double-edged sword in terms of machining and physical properties. Amorphous metal (bulk metallic glass) provides an alternative in terms of materials due to the random arrangement of atoms. Crystalline metals and amorphous metals are similar when heated to a molten state at a high temperature, that is, both are amorphous. However, when amorphous metals are rapidly cooled, they will directly change from liquid to crystalline state. Therefore, it exhibits different characteristics from crystalline metals.

Manufacturing of amorphous metals

Amorphous metals usually use a rapid cooling method, usually 1 million degrees Celsius per second, to spray molten iron into strips. The resulting ribbon made by SAT Amorphous can be wound into different shapes for use in manufacturing amorphous cores, which are widely used in charging piles, photovoltaics, inductors, medical equipment and other applications. Compared with the advantages of traditional ferrite cores, please refer to the previous article 'Nanocrystalline No Ferrite' on SAT BLOG.

Amorphous metal has a random atomic structure

As the amorphous metal cools, the lack of phase change will maintain a liquid microstructure in the formed metal. Therefore, almost no shrinkage occurs during the manufacturing process, so the manufacturing in the mold is the final result. It has the following advantages when matching the mold to make the amorphous core:

1. The size of the amorphous core can be accurately controlled by the number of winding turns, and there will be no major deformation after molding.

2. The inside of the amorphous core can be drained by dipping paint to make the entire magnetic core structure more compact.

Diamond Polishing Pad

Diamond polishing pad , also known as diamond polishing pad , is a flexible processing tool made of diamond as abrasive, combined with composite materials, with Velcro cloth on the back, glued to the joint of the grinding machine, used for grinding, stone, ceramic, glass, floor tile and other materials for special-shaped processing, suitable for stone polishing, line chamfering, curved plate and special-shaped stone processing. It can also be used for the special-shaped processing, repair and renovation of marble, concrete, cement floor, terrazzo, microcrystalline glass, artificial stone, floor tile, glazed tile and vitrified brick. It is an ideal stone grinding tool with strong grinding force, good durability, good softness, clarity and gloss. The whole process is divided into rough grinding, fine grinding, fine grinding and polishing four stages. The gloss is over 90°. Use 1, used for artificial stone, granite and marble stone processing, with a complete stand...

Separation of PET and PVC flakes with Optical sorting technology

The controlled concentration of PVC in PET flakes is essential in the plastics recycling process for most PET cleaning and recycling plants. This is because of the low melting point of PVC, which can cause clogging of the nozzles and increased breakage rates due to premature melting and carbonisation during the PET production spinning process, which can result in a large number of black spots in the product and affect the quality of the PET product. However, most high-end applications (e.g. the production of high-grade polyester fibres) require a PVC concentration of well below 50 ppm. therefore, in order to sell to high-end users at a high price, PET recyclers must make an extra effort toremove PVC from the PET flakes produced. How to remove PVC from PET flakes? PVC is difficult to identify with the naked eye as it is almost the same colour as PET, and even more difficult to remove when crushed into flakes. Due to the difference in melting point, PVC is the "numb...

Diamond Saw Blades for Building Materials

Diamond saw blades are tools used for cutting and shaping hard or wear-resistant materials that are difficult to cut effectively with conventional blades. They are commonly used in applications in the construction, masonry, and manufacturing industries, particularly for cutting materials such as concrete, asphalt, brick, tile, granite, marble, and more. Additionally, diamond saw blades can be used for cutting fragile materials such as glass, quartz, and others. The main advantages of diamond saw blades are their high efficiency and durability, which allow for accurate cutting and extended blade life. This is due to the fact that they are embedded with diamond particles, which are the hardest substance known to man. As a result, diamond saw blades are able to handle tough materials and withstand high temperatures and friction without dulling or breaking, making them a popular choice for many cutting applications. Choose from our selection of diamond saw blades i...
